Question of the week: Your house is burning down and you have time to select three books you own to take with you. What three books?

My answer: Why have you got to do this to me? This is AGONY.

exasperated no photo exasperatedno.gif

Can you make it ten? I can't stand the guilt of leaving some books behind. BUT, if it really happens... I guess... NO DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE. This is way too hard. Ask any other book lover and they'll be giving you the same answer as me.

OK OK, deep breaths, Elicia. Deep breaths. I would choose... The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.

What about you? Comment down below!!! I'd love to know what you're going to take!

Question of the Week: Do you like fantasy or realistic books?

My answer: This is a really hard question... But if I weigh them against each other, fantasy ultimately wins. It helps when you have a bad day and you are transported to another world.

My answer: No, I don't usually participate in this, but I've been mentioned a few times by others, which is nice of them.

But... If I did it, yeah, I'm really afraid I'll make someone sad by not including them.

What about you? Do you have twitter? Do you use the #FF tag? Tell me in the comments below!!!

Question of the Week:
Do you read more than 1 book at a time, and if so, how, like a certain amount of pages per book before moving on to the next one in the queue?

My answer: Yes, I have done so. Usually I read around 30 to 50 pages in a book before moving on to the next one! But I seldom do so now because it gives me headaches since there's literally so much to digest all at once. It's so easy to get the characters' names messed up!

What about you? Do you read more than one book at a time? Comment below!!!

My answer: Hard print, of course!! It's so straining to the eyes when you read ebooks. That's why I had to get glasses :(

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: If you had a time machine (i.e. a TARDIS), where would you go?

I'd go back to the Roaring Twenties in the USA! That's the easiest answer!!! Also, I'd want to travel back to the 1940s, when World War II was going on so I could see Anne Frank and Hitler; even though it's awful-I know-I'd still love to study more about life then. I'm a history junkie, if you didn't already know :P

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are some of your favorite picture books - either current ones or ones from your childhood?

I don't remember any picture books; most of them have been given away, but I have been working with children so I have been reading picture books (they still have words in them though but the pictures are beautiful). Here are a few of my favourites:

East of the Sun, West of the Moon

The Children of Lir

Anansi and Turtle Share Dinner

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
What are your favourite books of 2014 so far?

*Sorry for doing last week's question, I realised I made a mistake and posted this week's question for last week's post, so please excuse my mistake.

If you'd like to see what my answer was for this week's question, click HERE.

Well, I've recently read Rain by Amanda Sun and it was just awesome. It's left a huge impact on me due to its rich Japanese mythology and culture. One of the best contemporaries I've read so far this year would be Words and Their Meanings by Kate Bassett. That one proved to be quite emotional. Thriller-wise, would be the Fugitive series by Melissa Pearl and Sekret by Lindsay Smith. Both got my blood racing and heart pounding!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Post a photo of your favorite coffee mug (or mugs if you can’t choose just one).

I don't drink coffee really... It's mainly water, Milo or sometimes tea. But here's the mug I've been using all this time. The chip at the side there came from knocking it against the wall I think...

What's your favourite coffee mug? Comment below!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
Armchair Travel! Tell us about your favorite book in a setting you’d like to visit (a real place for this question).

My favourite book in a setting I'd like to visit would be The Fault in Our Stars, which is AMSTERDAM! I haven't watched the movie, but I've seen the trailer and the place looks so beautiful. I'd also love to visit this place because I know it's bursting with history and culture and I'm a real sucker for that :D What with Anne Frank and World War II and all...

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
Bookselling Time: Go to your biggest bookcases. Go to the second shelf from the top and pick out the sixth book. Hardsell that book to us - even if you haven't read it or if you hated it. (If you don't have bookcases, don't have six books on one shelf, etc. pick a book at random.)

I haven't read this yet so... this is gonna be hard... Well all I can say is that the story is pretty interesting and basically I buy books based on appearance (cover wise) hehehe... I don't why... So far, all my books with good looking covers have such amazing story lines (well, most of them anyway) Hmm.. I guess this story is based on parallel worlds that intersect and interconnect with each other so basically anyone can be your doppelgänger. It's pretty cool!

Well, you should buy it anyway! hahaha

Average rating on GoodReads: 4.83 out of 5.00

Summary:

One year. One woman. One Diary. One question: can you ever stop history from repeating itself and if you could what would you do to stop it?
When Lilah McCannon realises at the age of twenty-five that history is going to repeat itself and she is going to become her mother—bored, drunk and wearing a twinset—there is only one thing to do: take drastic action.
Turning her back on her old life, Lilah’s plan is to enrol at university, get a degree and prove she is a grown-up.
As plans go, it is a good one. There are rules to follow: no alcohol, no cigarettes, no boys and no going home. But when Lilah meets the lead singer of a local band and finds herself unexpectedly falling in love, she realises her rules are not going to be the only things hard to keep.
With the academic year slipping by too quickly, Lilah faces a barrage of new challenges: will she ever make it up the Library stairs without having a heart attack? Can she handle a day on campus without drinking vodka? Will she ever manage to read a history book without falling asleep? And most importantly, can she become the grown-up that she desperately wants to be.
With her head and her heart pulling her in different directions can Lilah learn the hardest lesson that her first year of university has to teach her: The Art of Letting Go?

A Different Blue by Amy Harmon

Our Rating: TBC / not quite finished with this one, 3 provisional stars so far!

Genre: NA/YA, contemporary, romance,

Filed under/Lists with this book: Student-Teacher/ Best Books Published in 2013, NYTIMES BESTSELLER

Average Rating on GoodReads: 4.32 out of 5

Summary:

Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old. At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on with life, she is just a senior in high school. With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least. Tough, hard and overtly sexy, she is the complete opposite of the young British teacher who decides he is up for the challenge, and takes the troublemaker under his wing.

This is the story of a nobody who becomes somebody. It is the story of an unlikely friendship, where hope fosters healing and redemption becomes love. But falling in love can be hard when you don't know who you are. Falling in love with someone who knows exactly who they are and exactly why they can't love you back might be impossible.

Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost — regardless of her plans or desires.

Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

What were some of you favourite picture books as a kid? If you have kids, what are your favourites to read to them?

I didn't really read much picture books when I was young but if I had to pick one that was kinda close to the term 'picture book' it would be the Peter and Jane series. It's been soooo long since I have read those BUT I still have them! hehe :P

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
It is up to you to do a Kickstarter campaign for you favourite book!!! Who are you casting for the main characters?

Well, I can't possibly say TMI because it's already a movie so let's see... I think Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver Trilogy should be made into a movie! That would be sooo cool :) And possibly Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor including The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa!!! I would definitely wanna watch those as movies :)
