Review: Bulletproof (A Songbird Novel #2) by Melissa Pearl

Title: Bulletproof (A Songbird Novel #2)
Author: Melissa Pearl
Release Date: 20th November 2014
Publisher: Evatopia Press
Find on: Goodreads

Quick Review: Morgan Pritchett doesn't need anyone. Strong-willed and confident, she's the master of organizing and looking after everyone around her. In her mind, she's bulletproof.

But she has one weakness - men. She can't seem to live without them, yet is unable to find her perfect match. After yet another break up, Morgan promises her sister and best friend that she'll write off men for the rest of the year...but then she meets Sean Jaxon.

Sean Jaxon has worked hard to become a Hollywood actor, scoring minor roles and slowly making a name for himself as an action sidekick. After a chance encounter with the stunning Morgan Pritchett, he decides to take a risk and put his dancing skills to the test by signing on for the lead role in Superstar, a TV musical. He never thought he'd reconnect with the girl who urged him to ignore his manager and be honest with himself, but when Morgan shows up on the set as a production assistant, he realizes he's found his ultimate weakness - her.

Their passion for dance and music will bring them together, but will their relationship be able to withstand the forces determined to pull them apart? As Morgan comes face-to-face with her long-buried demons and Sean decides just how much he's willing to risk for love, these two songbirds discover something...they're not as bulletproof as they thought.

Detailed Review: *I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review*

I didn't know I had missed the characters from the series so much until I started Bulletproof.

Morgan had always been one of my favourite characters since the start of the series. She was strong, confident, brave- basically the things that make a good character.

In Bulletproof, we get a deeper glimpse into her character as well as her past, which has caused her to develop into a control freak. She always takes care of everyone, but completely disregards herself.

That job is usually delegated to her boyfriends.

The love interest, Sean, was a really easy character to warm up to as well. I love music and sometimes dancing (as long as I'm not too bad at it), so I could relate with him very well.

The chemistry between the two is definitely smoking hot and electrifying, but. Yes, there is a but. But it, sadly, wasn't as swoon-worthy as the romance between Cole and Ella in Fever. I still ship Sean and Morgan of course, but not with the level of intensity I do with Ella and Cole. They may be one of my favourite couples, ever.

Honestly, I didn't know who to hate more in the book, the main characters, or the minor ones like Morgan's evil boss, Travis and Sean's manager, Rhonda. They were equally frustrating, which I must reward numerous applause for. It is hard to create such a bond between character and reader. Love-hate relationships with Morgan and Sean weren't absent at all during the whole course of the book.
I believe that character development is very important for a book to thrive; Bulletproof didn't lack it, it was filled to the brim with it. I liked that it focused on Jody as well, hinting at a sequel. *wink*

What I loved the most was the fact that family had been an important factor in the book. Both the main characters value family, so much so that Morgan was forced to give up her dreams to become a dancer after her mother left so she could take care of her family. Morgan's grandmother forced her to reconsider her opinion of being truly bulletproof and Sean's mother persuaded him to fight for true love. This is the power of family that the author managed to capture in Bulletproof.

The playlist for Bulletproof was perfect and suited the story way too well. I can't say how much it means to me because I love music so much. It's good to read about characters who are passionate about the same things as you

Did I also mention that the covers for this series are as hot as the books themselves?

Note: There is a sequel coming up, featuring Jody, my favourite character in the books so far. Yay!!!

Brief Review: This series is one of the few that shows off the wonders of music- how life-changing it is and its relationship with love. I don't think there wasn't anything I didn't like about Bulletproof; it definitely made Titanium run through my head while I was reading it! Music lovers will love- no, devour- this book.

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

ARC Review: Until You Find Me by Amber Hart

Title: Until You Find Me: A Novel
Author: Amber Hart
Release Date: 11th November 2014
Publisher: Random House Flirt
Find on: Goodreads

Quick ReviewAmber Hart pushes contemporary romance to its wildest limits in this heart-pounding novel, the story of a girl who travels to Africa to protect the legacy of one man . . . and stays for the love of another.

Raven Moore, a twenty-year-old college student from Michigan, feels out of place in the beautiful, treacherous jungles of Cameroon, staying in the habitat where her father gave his life to help protect endangered gorillas. He left home years ago; now Raven refuses to return home until she unravels the truth about his last days.

Raven certainly doesn’t count on crossing paths with a handsome young hunter—especially one as charismatic and intense as Jospin Tondjii. Instantly, she’s hooked. But Jospin is hiding a dark truth: He is the heir to a powerful poaching empire, part of a ruthless black market that is responsible for the dwindling gorilla population.

Their fathers may have been enemies, but Raven and Jospin forge a bond that goes beyond blood, a relationship that is tested as Raven draws closer to the source of her father’s death. Can she and Jospin bear the weight of the secrets of the wild—and the secrets of their pasts? Or will the rain forest destroy them both?

Detailed Review: <<I had the privilege of reading an ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review>>

Amber Hart has done it again. And this is only the second book she's written so far.

Talent. It all comes down to talent. There are many authors who steal people's attention using fantasy worlds or some swoony romance, or even some important historical event-like Markus Zusak's The Book Thief.

This particular author doesn't just do that; she also brings people's attention to a global issue.

Hart decided to push her writing abilities to breaking point. And that's what makes her different from any author I've read so far.

In Until You Find Me, the author decides to use dramatic irony (Shakespeare loved using this!). We will find out things about Jospin and Raven, things that both wouldn't know about the other. That actually made the suspense more palpable as you read along.

She also decided to add one more element-which I'm sure if Shakespeare was alive, would award her an award for: star-crossed lovers.

This novel may well be the Cameroonian version of Romeo and Juliet.

I personally am an animal lover, so I was quite pleased when I found out that there was also some spotlight for gorillas and how they were being hunted to extinction.

To emphasise this issue, Amber Hart decided to put Raven through an almost-death experience with a gorilla, thus planting a hate for them in the main character.

And then. Magic. With Hart's writing and a gorilla, Raven's opinion of the gorillas was changed to something positive.

This novel isn't just some swoony romance (but it's one of the good parts); it explores the connection between man and animal. And the capability of animals to change the thoughts of men.

I harboured some hate for Jospin because he was a poacher- a person who hunted gorillas for money.

But then I knew he couldn't be blamed because he simply had no choice. He had been born into it.

What I loved the most was Raven's spirit. She didn't give up after her accident, but instead she grew stronger. That's heroine material for you right there.

I felt that Raven's father played a big part in the
She also finds out the truth of her father's death is not as it seems; there's something more sinister in the workings.
And the truth might actually pull both Raven and Jospin apart.

The plot, needless to say, had just the right amount of tension and action AND romance to keep it going.

And then, came the great finale- also known as- The Grand Twist.

All you need to know is there was heartbreak and betrayal involved.

Brief Review: This isn't just any NA contemporary romance. It's unique in its setting in the African jungle- where danger lurks everywhere in the form of animals and men, the subject of interest- how often do you read about gorillas- and even the diverse characters. Until You Find Me is a story of star-crossed lovers in a dangerous place; this novel has considerably raised my expectations for all NA contemporary romances- and it may have been what Amber Hart intended to do.

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

Review: Behind The Scenes by Kathryn White

Book Description: Catlin Ryan is determined to escape her dreary life in a beachside caravan park. Abandoned by her alcoholic mother, she dreams of a life on the stage and is prepared to work hard to get it. So when she is offered a starring role on her favourite television series, Catlin does not think twice about taking it.

Then there is the reunion with her father, a brooding retired police officer, who offers her board and lodgings inside a house that is haunted with dark family secrets. Who is Catlin Ryan, really? Why does she keep remembering things that she knows never really happened? Can Catlin reconcile with her past and keep her family secrets out of the tabloids, or is the world destined to know what goes on behind the scenes?

Detailed Review: <<review copy provided by the author herself>>

I wasn't quite sure about what I should write as I am not into well, contemporary fiction. But I will do my best.

I think the story was bending more to New Adult rather than Young Adult...relatively it was not as entertaining for me. But of course this doesn't mean that the book is not good. I mean, other people have their own opinions whereas I didn't really like it.

The story was fine; it had a good outline about what the worst life style was. I really liked Catlin's humorous nature where she critiqued her not-so beautiful life with her so called fiancĂ©e Johnny. Catlin really had a long run where she uniquely thought about her runaway mother.

Kathryn White (the author) wrote a really good book in terms of projecting Catlin's hatred towards her previous life in a dumpster and how significantly the story took a turn into the glamorous life of the main character.

The main char of the story didn't strike me but I think there's more connection which definitely tells us about how Catlin's life story became as it is today. Secretly I wished there was more excitement in the story (more action) haha but of course the story is already targeting a more serious audience? Well, for one, I'm not so sure about this story...

Putting aside that, the writing was really detailed but impactful. It wasn't the writing that made me bored but the story itself or perhaps the genre that's been shown. The writing of the author was quite fast-paced and it did have some exciting scenes but other times it felt really dead

I probably sound harsh about Behind The Scenes but if I have to say so myself...

I didn't feel the "oophm" that most YA books guaranteed. OK, perhaps this book isn't even in the genre for YA but it was noted down.

Brief Review: New Adult...not for me. I had to say Behind The Scenes was not really my forte and rather it had a good run. But the narration of Catlin Ryan was quite individually fulfilling and it definitely covered the holes in which made the story slightly dull.

My Rating: 2/5  "It's OK"

ARC Review: Fever by Melissa Pearl

Title: Fever (A Songbird Novel)

Quick ReviewSinging in the shower takes on a whole new meaning in Melissa Pearl's first Contemporary Romance.

Ella Simmons does not want to move across the country. But she is, because her boyfriend has persuaded her to join him at UChicago to finish out her college education. Never able to tell him no, she hops on a plane and makes the trek from LA expecting to adjust to life like she's often forced to, but things are not that simple when she hears a luscious voice singing over her shower wall. His deep, sexy tenor makes her weak in the knees, spreading fire through her limbs and making her question everything about her life and relationship.

Can one voice really have that much of an impact?

Cole Reynolds is on his way out. In his final year at UChicao, the only this he wants to do is finish school and get on with this life. But the sweet voice that interrupts his morning shower turns his world upside down. Compelled to find his shower songbird, he begins a search across campus. The only thing to distract him from this goal is his roommate's gorgeous girlfriend who's just arrived from LA - Ella Simmons.

Relationships are put to the ultimate test as future dreams are questioned and friendships are thrown on the line for love

Detailed Review:  This is Melissa Pearl's FIRST contemporary romance? And it's already THIS good? Wow. As I told you before, she's definitely got talent.

How do I describe this book? The most obvious word would be amazing, but I feel that that isn't enough to even express how I feel about Fever. Heart-breaking, swoon-worthy, emotional, joyful and frustrating would be further added to the list.

And now I shall explain why I would describe the book using those adjectives.

Amazing: The word itself speaks volumes. Need I say more?

Heart-breaking: Imagine not being able to be with the person you love. That pretty much sums it up.

Swoon-worthy: The romance. Full stop.

Emotional: You're happy one moment, sad the next, annoyed at times, and crying at the end.

Frustrating: Those times when Cole said he had to find 'shower bird' because he had to get away from Ella; he didn't even guess it was actually her. Same for Ella.

Is it possible to add twists to a contemporary  romance? According to this book, the answer is yes. You may think that the author will only have a limited amount of twists to write, but she makes the impossible possible.

There would be a total of 3 major twists, one of them being the ending. That was maybe one of the most beautiful endings I've ever seem. The absence of a cliffhanger just made it even more beautiful.

The characters were really really really good. They each had originality and were individually unique. Ella may seem weak and submissive at first when she was only following David's plan and had none of her own, not even revealing her passion to sing to him. But in the end she mustered the strength to tell him the truth. I feel that it doesn't matter when she tells him everything, as long as she does it. It was brave of her to finally confront David.

David was quite a good character as well. He is portrayed as smart, studious, handsome but he just doesn't fit in well with Ella. I could already see it when Ella first met David in the book. He seemed a little selfish as times, disregarding Ella's allergy to gluten. So really, both of them didn't fit.

Now Cole and Ella, they were magic. They were perfectly right for each other. Who wouldn't want Cole? He's hot (bad boy alert!), caring, selfless and he can sing. When those two were together, I could literally feel the sparks flying from their relationship on my face. I felt tingly all over while reading the parts when they were together. I almost wished I was Ella.

I wouldn't have asked for better best friends than Logan and Jody. Jody's sunny nature can cheer you up instantly and Morgan's motherly nature will warm your heart to the core.

Another aspect I loved about this book, was THE MUSIC. I love music, it's what keeps me sane besides books. To actually read so much about music in this book is the best thing because it helps me connect to the book and its characters even more. Through music, this book has left an imprint on my heart and soul. Music means so much to me. as much as it means to the author and the characters. I couldn't have asked for a better playlist for this book. It was just awesome.

*There will be another book in the series, featuring one of Ella's best friends, Morgan!

Brief Review: So overall, Fever made me feverous (excuse the pun). It's a great read for those who love romance and if you want to swoon over it all day, Ella and Cole are the perfect couple to swoon over! And... if you are a true jazz lover, sway to the music while reading this book!

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

Review: Never Say Goodbye by Bethan Cooper

Quick Review: Who said life was easy again?

When eighteen year old Ella Stone fell into his arms one July morning she encountered a man who was not only beautiful, but the most caring and loving she had ever met. She is lost in the distance to most and cares about nothing in her life. The only needs she craves is her best friend Jade and her trusty sky blue Ford Mustang.

After losing someone who meant more to her than herself, her whole life changed for the worse.

Fighting something on your own, can change your life.

Especially when that something, causes you pain everyday.

When Luke James lean, beautiful and rich finds a small girl riddled with torment in his arms he can't help but want to put out that dark light inside of her.

His past haunts them both, causing unnecessary heartbreak.

But when he leaves his high school girlfriend Jenna, for her, trouble chases them both and the escape tries to break them apart.

On this emotional tormented roller-coaster, we find two people who should of never been introduced, but they are and the inevitable happens, for them both.

Detailed Review <<I received a copy of this book to beta in return for my honest feedback.>>

Never Say Goodbye was an explosive book, albeit a quiet one. It's like when you light a fuse and it starts burning, until it reaches the end and the explosion happens. That's how I felt when I read the last few chapters.

There was a strong theme of insta-love with this book, but I would classify it as a genuine and realistic one, because of the fact that Luke and Ella had met before, just that Luke had never looked at Ella the same way he had when she fell, literally into his arms.

I thought Beth managed to balance this out by showing how volatile and strength their relationship is. One word is all it takes to break it; when it's fixed again, it's stronger than before.

At the start of the book, Ella Stone was just a girl battling with depression who had her Mustang and best friend to distract her from her demons. She was broken and hard to fix.

When she has lost hope, the appearance of Luke James precedes a romance so strong and unyielding that it had Celine Dion's 'The Power of Love' running in my head.

NSG is about how love can make you stronger and change you. Over the course of the book, Ella's transformation is evident; she becomes braver and stronger. She is able to stand up and fight for herself. Ella was definitely my favourite character in the book because she showed in the end, that she was still strong when Luke wasn't with her and was a source of pain. She even stood up to him.

Luke, the hottest boy in school (bad boy alert!) was immediately drawn to Ella in a way he had never before when they collided into each other. He showed that he was also as broken as Ella, though he didn't suffer the depression as Ella had. He had lost the person he loved the most but none of the hurt ever showed on the surface until he let Ella in. I'd love to know more about his background though. Sometimes I think the spotlight should shine more often on Luke and his current struggles.

The story was told mainly from Ella's POV but there was a chapter for both Ella and Luke's POV, which I absolutely wished there was more of.

P.S. The ending will certainly want to make you cry or just traumatise you into a brief silence. Just get ready a box of tissues.

Brief Review: The chemistry between Luke and Ella made a very potent combination with both of their tragic pasts. It's not easy to get out of this book after being immersed in it. This is an emotional piece of work that will leave your heart broken not just by the beauty of Luke and Ella's love, but everything else that comes with it. I can't wait for the sequel! I NEED MORE LUKE AND ELLA!

Quick Review: Andi Callaway has dreamed of becoming a published author her entire life.

Ford Delaney has always wanted nothing more than to escape his past.

An opportunity of a lifetime. This is what Andi finds when she returns home to Callaway Cove on summer break. A chance to work for her literary idol Ford Delaney is up for grabs, and she’s willing to risk everything—her boyfriend, her best friends, and her education—to get it.

She’s positive this will be the key to reaching her dreams. But the moment she begins working for the reclusive author, Andi realizes there’s more to him than just a name. As attraction builds between Andi and Ford, she begins to discover consequences must come hand-in-hand with something great—which could loosen control over her tightly wound life. And once romantic sparks fly, Andi’s other relationships start to crumble, Ford’s fame comes back to haunt him, and the heat they generate will either forge a powerful, enduring love or threaten everything she holds dear.

Detailed Review: I had the honour of beta-reading WOHH for the author.

No words can describe my admiration for the author after reading Written on Her Heart.

The story is very simple, but this book proves to be one of those books that are simple yet touching. Also it has got these layers of secrets waiting to be peeled back at each turn of the page.

WOHH tells a story about a girl who dreams of being a writer and when an opportunity arises that allows her to achieve her dreams, she eagerly takes it, mindless of the consequences or the effects it will have on her life.

Callaway Cove is a very beautiful setting because it just gives this stay-calm vibe that makes the pain and beauty of the story stand out even more. It just brings out the characters and their stories.

Andi, the main character is very much a control freak. She has got everything planned out for the future. But the sudden job offer brings her future plans to a halt and she has to start from scratch.

Ford has always found writing as a form of therapy but he never expected it to backfire against him. He goes to Callaway Cove for refuge. And finds unexpected surprises waiting for him, including his assistant Andi.

The swoon-worthy romance was a winner. It definitely captured my heart. I was surprised by how much it had affected me when I finished the book.

Not to mention the splendid twists I stumbled along the way. It took quite a while for me to finished reading this book because every time I reached a twist, I couldn't read on for fear of what would have happened after that. However, it never took long before I was ready to take on the challenge of reading again. It's almost like overcoming your own fears. I felt so proud of myself after finishing.

Brief Review: When I think of WOHH, I can't help but remember the feelings I experience while reading it. I have no doubt that Paige Rion has crafted a masterpiece that will be admired by many in the future. The subject which this book is focused on will attract the attention of many aspiring writers. It wasn't only Paige's writing skills that impressed me; it was the setting, the characters and the romance that captivated me.

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

Quick Review:

Love is a battlefield.
The aftershocks of an affair reverberate out to those in the lives of the lovers, who will NOT take it lying down.

Jack Connor's lives an idyllic life by the Portsmouth seaside married to Caitlin McAllen, a stunning billionaire heiress, and working at his two jobs as the Head of Radar Engineering of Marine Electronics and as the Director of Engineering of McAllen BlackGold, his powerful father-in-law Douglas McAllen's extreme engineering company in Oil & Gas. He loves his two sons from his first marriage and is amicably divorced from his beautiful first wife Marianne Connor. Their delicately balanced lives are shattered when Michelle Williams, with whom Jack is having a secret affair and who is pregnant with his child, is found dead and Jack is arrested on suspicion for the murder.

Jeremy Stone brings London's top defence attorney, John Stavers, to handle his best friend's defence.

Who is the bald man with the tattoo of a skull seen entering the victim's house? Who is "KC" who Caitlin makes secret calls to from a untraceable mobile? Has powerful Douglas McAllen already killed his daughter's first partner and is he capable of killing again? Is Caitlin's brother Ronnie McAllen's power struggle with Jack for the control of McAllen Industries so intense that he is prepared to kill and frame his brother-in-law? Is the divorce from Jack's first wife as amicable on her part as they believe it to be? Are his sons prepared to kill for their vast inheritance? Who are the ghosts from Caitlin's past in Aberdeen, Scotland haunting the marriage? What is the involvement of Jack's manager at Marine Electronics?

The cast of characters is made even more colorful by the supporting entourage: the big Scott and his gang, HosĂ© and Heineken, who carry out Douglas McAllen’s “troubleshooting;” McAllens' bumbling solicitors McKinley and Magnus Laird; Caitlin McAllen’s handymen, Cossack and Levent; and Jeremy’s sidekick, the gay black actor working in the London West End.

While Jack is charged and his murder trial proceeds in the Crown Court under barrister John Stavers’ expert care, Jeremy runs a race against time to find the real killer and save his friend's life, if he is in fact innocent, in a tense saga of love, desire, power, and ambition.

Detailed Review: << review copy received from the author himself >>

For me, this book was actually quite good but I found it quite relaxed as in the tone of the book. It kinda gave of a 'boring' feeling because this genre was not much of a YA. Well, it isn't - so it didn't really suit my taste in story.

But the quality of storyline was amazing and the characters were expectedly detailed and not too complex. His style of writing is quite compelling if you're into psychological crime and murder stories. Moreover the story had a style of quick witted characters and characters that I have come to love.

Putting aside my feelings of the book, I think The Reckless Engineer was written in really reality-based and proved to be very realistic. In other ways, the book was pretty good and I enjoyed it as well :)

The author (Jac Wright) has an excessive knowledge and a clear understanding of the underworld and reality that has made me rethink and reread his book! Clearly, this book has made an impact to some readers who enjoy thriller and suspense genres.

But what made me enjoy the book the most was it's detailed storyline!

Wright has developed a clear understanding yet equally as confusing and thought-bearing that made me think and question the likes and dislikes of the characters and plot. But in the end I wish the book was more bending to the YA genre...

I'd give it 4.5 or 5 stars but my rating system is designed to give a fair rating - but due to it's imaginative quality, it deserves to have a better rating. The only down side to this book was it's slow development from the start but it definitely picked off later on.

Brief Review: The Reckless Engineer was interesting and fantastically developed. Jac Wright (the author) has used such a provocative style of writing that had finally won me over to the very end of the book! This book is definite lover to readers who enjoy a suspense and thriller story!

My Rating: 4/5   "Really Liked it!"

She was broken when I met her, shattered from the death of her sister and running from love. Not to sound like an egotistical douche or anything, but I fixed her. Put her back together, filled in the cracks, and made her whole. A true fairytale in her eyes.

But now real life is getting in the way: school, jobs, and the unexpected opportunity to travel the world under a legendary photographer. This internship will open doors not even my father’s influence could. It’s something I’ve been waiting all my life for. But so is Quinn, and accepting this internship will mean leaving her.

And breaking her all over again.

Alright so, get ready, get set and let's get the party started.

A Different Blue - TOP TEN MOMENTS - Written by Amy Harmon, Published March, 2013

Number 10

''I grew up - found out what I wanted to do with my life. Sometimes the things we want to be rescued from can save us. ''

 Number 9

''Why don't you focus on where you're going and less on where you come from? Why don't you focus more on what makes you brilliant and less on what you angry? ''

    Number 8

''"A handkerchief?! What are you, eighty-five?"

Number 7

''Suddenly, action was required. The cameras were rolling, and I didn't know my lines, I was overcome by stage fright, of the strangers in the audience, of the scenes I hadn't studied and couldn't possibly prepare for. And above all, I didn't want Wilson to see me in the spotlight once more, the light unflattering, the storyline tragic, violent and depressing. ''

Number 6

''I felt her sag against me, and then she was clinging to me desperately, sobbing, grieving for a man she had mistreated, for a daughter she had failed and a granddaughter she had lost. ''

Number 5

''I lay in stunned surprise, waiting for him to loosen his grip, waiting for his hands to touch, for his body to move, but his arms stayed locked around me, his body remained still. And there, in the circle of his arms, held so fiercely that there was no room to doubt him or fear his loss, I slept.''

Number 4

'' Pride & Prejudice?'' ''How did you know?'' he smiled.
''I have a thing for Mr. Darcy. ''

JOINT Number 3

''I was spent without compromise, sated without sacrifice, completely and totally head-over-heals in love. And it was delicious.  ''

''Sometimes I feel like I have a huge, gaping hole from my chin to my waist, wide open negative space that life has just carved away. ''

Number 2

''You were emotionally rocked in Reno, just like I was in London, and you needed me, but you didn't need me that way.  Someday, hopefully bloody soon - because I will combust if I ever have to spend a night like that again - you will want me because you love me, not because you're lost, not because you're desperate, not because you're afraid. And that's the goal.''

NUMBER 1

''Once upon a time there was a little bird who was placed in a nest. Wanted. Cherished. Unafraid, because she knew she was a hawk, a beautiful bird, worthy of awe, deserving of love. . . ''

--

Now, weren't those lovely?

Blog Tour: Quantum Entanglement by Liesel K. Hill (Review+Guest Post)

Hi everyone! This is the last stop for the Quantum Entanglement blog tour and today I'm going to present you with a review of the book together with a guest post from the author, Liesel K. Hill.

Quantum Entanglement by Liesel K. HillTitle: Quantum Entanglement
Author: Liesel K. Hill
Release Date: 17th September 2013
Publisher: CreateSpace
Find on: Goodreads

Quick Review: Five months after traveling to a post-apocalyptic future where collectives reign supreme and individuals have been hunted to the verge of extinction, Maggie Harper was returned to her own time until the threat to her life could be neutralized. She thought Marcus and the others would return for her within a few weeks, and now she’s beginning to worry.

When travelers from the future finally show up to collect her, it’s not who she expected. With the return of her memories, she wants more than ever to see Marcus again, but a snake-like woman whose abilities are a perfect match for Maggie’s, an injured Traveler, and decades of civil unrest to wade through all stand in the way of their reunion.

Meanwhile, Marcus and Karl traipse through the countryside, trying to neutralize Colin, who’s promised to brutalize and murder Maggie if he can get his hands on her. When a collective woman is left for dead, Marcus heals her, hoping she’ll be the key to killing Colin and bringing Maggie back. But she may prove as much a hindrance as a help.

The team struggles to get their bearings, but things happen faster than they know. The collectives are coalescing, power is shifting, and the one called B is putting sinister plans into action. If the team can’t reunite and get a handle on the situation, their freedom and individuality—perhaps their very identity—will be ripped away before they can catch their breath.

Detailed Review: This was such an explosive book. Really, I'm not joking here. To me, what stood out most in the book were the characters. Here, you get to know the characters even more in depth than in Persistence of Vision.

The new characters didn't disappoint either. One of them is Justine, an assassin who's sent to annihilate Maggie, who fulfills the role of the Executioner and has now gotten most of her memories back. Justine was everything from wicked to scary and sadistic, everything you'd expect of an assassin, except picture it 1000 times more brutal. Yup, that's Justine.

The other new character was a woman who. like David had just come out of the collective, but she was a very tough nut to crack, this one. She was all defiance. Karl and Marcus certainly found it hard to break her but they did manage to give her a name. I won't tell you what it is.

I liked the story in this book as well and thought it to be very well-developed because it shows a clear picture of how the different groups: collectives and individuals came into place as Maggie Travelled through time. Also, there were literally so much going on in the book. There were three stories from different perspectives to contend with so you will NEVER find this boring. But if you do find it boring you to sleep, you're missing something. Because Liesel K. Hill is a very very very talented writer. How many times have I said that?

THE ENDING: Leaves so many questions that can only be answered in the next book...

NOOOOO I NEED THE NEXT BOOK SO BAD!!!

P.S. The cover sure is creepy... Imagine the girl staring at you in your sleep. And that's Justine.

And don't forget to read the guest post after the review!!!

Brief Review: Liesel has nailed everything down that is needed to make an unbelievably and irresistibly good dystopian book. This book was the prime definition of perfection and a good book that shouldn't be ignored!

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

Why Bother With the Craziness of Writing?

Hello Fabulous Readers! Today is the final day of my Quantum Entanglement blog tour. Though it wasn’t quite as epic as the tour I did for book 1, in many ways it was more stressful. I’ve had more going on, more things to worry about, more work to do, and more tasks to juggle.
Do you ever wonder why we writers bother? Writing is hard work. It’s a hassle. There are many aspects of it that are long, tedious, and less-than-enjoyable. And yet more people than ever before are uploading their work to publication sites, hoping the world will latch onto their words.
One truth that most people don’t know, and aspiring authors don’t really want to hear, is that writing the book is only half the battle, and the smaller half at that. Promoting, selling, blogging,  and networking are actually harder and take more time. They can result in headaches--often a result of the authors banging our own heads against the wall--and take time away from doing what we really love: writing.
So why do it? Why subject ourselves to the arduous hell of writing, publication, and promotion?
There are so many answers to that question, and they vary from author to author, but in my opinion, they all boil down to the same thing: we don’t have much choice.
There are many professions in which the people who follow them are answering a call they can’t ignore. They’re passionate about their work and, despite the headaches, wouldn’t do anything else. Writing is no different.

“We write by the light of every story we have read.”--Richard Peck

“You have to write the book that wants to be written.”--Madeleine L’Engle
“I write to find out what I didn’t know I knew.”--Robert Frost

“I write because there is a voice inside me that will not be still.”--Sylvia Plath

“A writer can do nothing for men more necessary, satisfying, than just simply to reveal to them the infinite possibility of their own souls.”--Walt Witman

“It is impossible to discourage real writers, they don’t give a damn what you say, they’re going to write.”--Unknown

“I must write. My pen is heavy. Oh lighten the load, for I must write.”--Unknown

“You will recognize your own path when you come upon it, because you will suddenly have all the energy and imagination you will ever need.”--Unknown

I identify with all of these. Once I fully conceive a story, once it’s fully formed and I start to feel like the characters are good friends, I know I’ll have to write it sooner or later. It’ll just keep me up at night until I do. It’s a call, a compulsion, a necessity for sanity. A passion. A way of life. Oh, and by the way, it’s dang fun.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my blog tour and book 2 of my Interchron series. I plan to keep putting fingers to keyboard for a long, long time.
