Blog Tour + Review: IRON PENDULUM by Megan Curd

Hi everyone!!! Today we're one of the tour stops for the Iron Pendulum blog tour! Read on for my full review of the book! Also there will be a giveaway at the end, giving away some delicious prices!

Title: Iron Pendulum (Periodic #2)
Author: Megan Curd
Release Date: 28th August 2014
Publisher: -
Find on: Goodreads

Quick ReviewSix months ago, Avery thought the world ended outside Dome Four. Thought she was one of the few of her kind. Thought the war that brought the human race to the brink of extinction was over.

But six months can change everything.

After fighting to escape a tyranny she didn't even know existed, Avery has had to come to grips with all the secrets she's uncovered. But more secrets continue to come to light, revealing how little of her world she truly knew. When evidence starts to show that Dome Four might be under siege, Avery knows what she must do.

Returning to the dome she longed to escape is a challenge for Avery, but now she knows there’s corruption lurking in the shadows. A massive steam shortage leaves half the dome without power, and people are falling ill. Dying.

And they’re blaming Avery.

Six months can change everything. One more month could kill everyone. The clock is ticking.

Detailed Review<<I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review>>

Iron Pendulum is the long-awaited sequel to Steel Lily. Yes, long-awaited, because I couldn't wait to see what Avery and her friends were going to do to help Dome Four and its inhabitants.

When I was reading, I found myself laughing and smiling one moment and panting the next, and then possibly crying.

The laughing part was mainly from Jaxon and his sharp tongue, as usual. The crying and panting? Well, there definitely wasn't anything funny.

I was ranting about Iron Pendulum to one of my blogger friends, Anna from Enchanted by YA. And this is what I told her.

IRON PENDULUM IS 10 TIMES BETTER THAN THE HUNGER GAMES.

Because if you compare it to The Hunger Games, come on. There is seriously no need to compare. Iron Pendulum was such a good book, and undoubtedly much better than its predecessor too.

Let me justify this statement.

So much betrayal. So much I think I almost died on the spot when I found out who the traitor was. And yes, when you find out who the traitor is, the twists will come. All at once. BOOM BOOM BOOM. Be ready.

And so much tragedy and pain as well. I really felt so much pain for Avery that I wanted to cry, because no fifteen year old, even one destined to be the hope of the people, should experience what she went through. Of course, the characters each had their own part to play in the book and I adored all of them. Even Riggs.

Except some, of course. Like Xander, for example.

And someone who you wouldn't expect to hate when you reach the end.

The story was perfect. I shall leave it at that. That sentence is enough to show what I thought about the book.

And don't worry about the action. There's action already waiting for you in the first chapter, and it builds up to one explosive climax at the end.

As well as one cliffhanger.

My pleasure for giving you this warning.

Brief ReviewIron Pendulum needs to be read by every single dystopian fan, because I believe that it really is the trademark of the dystopian genre. Not only did it speak of hope in its simple but beautiful writing, it spoke of love in its many forms, from family to friends. That, I believe is what every true dystopian book should have, besides an oppressed world searching for hope. Megan Curd did it right and I just want to thank her for writing this sequel so perfectly.

Final Rating: 5/5 (no questions about it! I'd give it a six if I could!) 'Totally Amazing!!!'

Here's an excerpt that gets my adrenaline running! If you like it, I urge you to read the whole book! Hint: this happens in the first chapter.

“Jaxon…” I said, trailing off.
“Run.”
Alice’s voice rose in panic. “Jax, what do you mean—”
“When, in the history of the English language, has run ever meant anything other than run?” Jaxon’s every word was laced with tension.
And that’s when I heard them; the feral snarls of what used to be human beings echoing down the tunnel.
Ground Zeroes—or Zeroes, as we’d come to call them since meeting up with the Alliance—the burned army of Xander’s Resistance.
Sari took three steps back before turning on her heel. “I think we should go now.”
We backed up, trying to be as silent as possible in our exit. But then I stepped on the bones of a rat skeleton.
Echoes, then silence, and then it came.
Wild, livid, tortured growls, that shouldn’t come from any human being, rang through the tunnel. The cement shook, and I knew we were done for. There was nowhere to go; nowhere to hide.

Blog Tour + Review: Written On Her Heart by Paige Rion

Hey everyone! We're very happy to have participated in the Written On Her Heart blog tour!

Title: Written On Her Heart

Release Date: 23rd April 2014

Quick Review: Andi Callaway has dreamed of becoming a published author her entire life.

Ford Delaney has always wanted nothing more than to escape his past.

An opportunity of a lifetime. This is what Andi finds when she returns home to Callaway Cove on summer break. A chance to work for her literary idol Ford Delaney is up for grabs, and she’s willing to risk everything—her boyfriend, her best friends, and her education—to get it.

She’s positive this will be the key to reaching her dreams. But the moment she begins working for the reclusive author, Andi realizes there’s more to him than just a name. As attraction builds between Andi and Ford, she begins to discover consequences must come hand-in-hand with something great—which could loosen control over her tightly wound life. And once romantic sparks fly, Andi’s other relationships start to crumble, Ford’s fame comes back to haunt him, and the heat they generate will either forge a powerful, enduring love or threaten everything she holds dear.

Detailed Review: I had the honour of beta-reading WOHH for the author.

No words can describe my admiration for the author after reading Written on Her Heart.

The story is very simple, but this book proves to be one of those books that are simple yet touching. Also it has got these layers of secrets waiting to be peeled back at each turn of the page.

WOHH tells a story about a girl who dreams of being a writer and when an opportunity arises that allows her to achieve her dreams, she eagerly takes it, mindless of the consequences or the effects it will have on her life.

Callaway Cove is a very beautiful setting because it just gives this stay-calm vibe that makes the pain and beauty of the story stand out even more. It just brings out the characters and their stories.

Andi, the main character is very much a control freak. She has got everything planned out for the future. But the sudden job offer brings her future plans to a halt and she has to start from scratch.

Ford has always found writing as a form of therapy but he never expected it to backfire against him. He goes to Callaway Cove for refuge. And finds unexpected surprises waiting for him, including his assistant Andi.

The swoon-worthy romance was a winner. It definitely captured my heart. I was surprised by how much it had affected me when I finished the book.

Not to mention the splendid twists I stumbled along the way. It took quite a while for me to finished reading this book because every time I reached a twist, I couldn't read on for fear of what would have happened after that. However, it never took long before I was ready to take on the challenge of reading again. It's almost like overcoming your own fears. I felt so proud of myself after finishing.

Brief Review: When I think of WOHH, I can't help but remember the feelings I experience while reading it. I have no doubt that Paige Rion has crafted a masterpiece that will be admired by many in the future. The subject which this book is focused on will attract the attention of many aspiring writers. It wasn't only Paige's writing skills that impressed me; it was the setting, the characters and the romance that captivated me.

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

Blog Tour and Review: Waiting for Romeo by Diane Mannino

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by our blog for the Waiting for Romeo blog tour! Read on for my review of this spectacular book!

Title: Waiting for Romeo
Author: Diane Mannino
Release Date: 15th November 2013
Find on: Goodreads
Genre: Young Adult
Tour: Irresistible Reads Book Tours

Quick ReviewHeartbroken by the one guy she simply couldn’t resist, Emilia King is determined to move on. But Logan Prescott is also determined… determined to win her back. He lost the only person who truly mattered to him and now he’ll do whatever it takes to convince Emilia to give him a second chance.

While their attraction to each other is undeniable, the obstacles they’re forced to confront may be too much. And just when it seems their love for each other is a bond that knows no bounds, Emilia faces her worst nightmare.

With her newfound inner strength, Emilia realizes fighting to be with Logan is her only hope…and waiting for him may ultimately determine not only their future together, but her own destiny.

Detailed Review: I loved this book to bits! It was so romantic and funny at the same time. What with the romance between Logan and Emilia and the action that kept jumping out of the dark of the most unexpected of times- this book made me light-headed. I found that I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

I think the beauty of the book stemmed from the characters themselves. Emilia is a great heroine who has grown stronger through her past. She shows unlimited strength in the book and stubborn determination. She is also a loving and caring person, who cares for others before herself. These traits are evidence of a perfect heroine.

Now let's move on to Logan. He's changed after he saw Emilia. And he did not change one small thing. He changed A LOT. He was willing to cut off all ties to his former friends so she could see how much he really cared for her. Although he had his own demons, he managed to overcome them.

The romance brewing between the heroine and hero was truly what I'd wish for myself. Their love has become absolutely strong and Emilia has learnt to trust Logan to an extent when Montecito happened, which is the part I loved the most. It holds a huge significance in their relationship and is a starting point for them.

Then there's Bryn and Chloe. I think they're the best friends I could ask for. Having them together is a potent mix of long-lasting friendship. I love how they get along with each other with Emilia and am touched by how much they care for her. They're truly the best.

The other element in the book that gave me chills was the giant twist at the ending. It was uncalled for and unexpected. I didn't think it would be this good.

And may I request that there is a sequel for Waiting for Romeo? I haven't had enough of Emilia and Logan yet. And I'll beg for it if I have to.

Brief Review: This book is so different from it's predecessor, from the story to the love that brews between Logan and Emilia. I couldn't have asked for a better sequel. Let me just sum this book up in three words: flawless, swoon-worthy & beautiful.

Final Rating: 5/5 ' Totally Amazing!'

Blog Tour: Quantum Entanglement by Liesel K. Hill (Review+Guest Post)

Hi everyone! This is the last stop for the Quantum Entanglement blog tour and today I'm going to present you with a review of the book together with a guest post from the author, Liesel K. Hill.

Quantum Entanglement by Liesel K. HillTitle: Quantum Entanglement
Author: Liesel K. Hill
Release Date: 17th September 2013
Publisher: CreateSpace
Find on: Goodreads

Quick Review: Five months after traveling to a post-apocalyptic future where collectives reign supreme and individuals have been hunted to the verge of extinction, Maggie Harper was returned to her own time until the threat to her life could be neutralized. She thought Marcus and the others would return for her within a few weeks, and now she’s beginning to worry.

When travelers from the future finally show up to collect her, it’s not who she expected. With the return of her memories, she wants more than ever to see Marcus again, but a snake-like woman whose abilities are a perfect match for Maggie’s, an injured Traveler, and decades of civil unrest to wade through all stand in the way of their reunion.

Meanwhile, Marcus and Karl traipse through the countryside, trying to neutralize Colin, who’s promised to brutalize and murder Maggie if he can get his hands on her. When a collective woman is left for dead, Marcus heals her, hoping she’ll be the key to killing Colin and bringing Maggie back. But she may prove as much a hindrance as a help.

The team struggles to get their bearings, but things happen faster than they know. The collectives are coalescing, power is shifting, and the one called B is putting sinister plans into action. If the team can’t reunite and get a handle on the situation, their freedom and individuality—perhaps their very identity—will be ripped away before they can catch their breath.

Detailed Review: This was such an explosive book. Really, I'm not joking here. To me, what stood out most in the book were the characters. Here, you get to know the characters even more in depth than in Persistence of Vision.

The new characters didn't disappoint either. One of them is Justine, an assassin who's sent to annihilate Maggie, who fulfills the role of the Executioner and has now gotten most of her memories back. Justine was everything from wicked to scary and sadistic, everything you'd expect of an assassin, except picture it 1000 times more brutal. Yup, that's Justine.

The other new character was a woman who. like David had just come out of the collective, but she was a very tough nut to crack, this one. She was all defiance. Karl and Marcus certainly found it hard to break her but they did manage to give her a name. I won't tell you what it is.

I liked the story in this book as well and thought it to be very well-developed because it shows a clear picture of how the different groups: collectives and individuals came into place as Maggie Travelled through time. Also, there were literally so much going on in the book. There were three stories from different perspectives to contend with so you will NEVER find this boring. But if you do find it boring you to sleep, you're missing something. Because Liesel K. Hill is a very very very talented writer. How many times have I said that?

THE ENDING: Leaves so many questions that can only be answered in the next book...

NOOOOO I NEED THE NEXT BOOK SO BAD!!!

P.S. The cover sure is creepy... Imagine the girl staring at you in your sleep. And that's Justine.

And don't forget to read the guest post after the review!!!

Brief Review: Liesel has nailed everything down that is needed to make an unbelievably and irresistibly good dystopian book. This book was the prime definition of perfection and a good book that shouldn't be ignored!

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

Why Bother With the Craziness of Writing?

Hello Fabulous Readers! Today is the final day of my Quantum Entanglement blog tour. Though it wasn’t quite as epic as the tour I did for book 1, in many ways it was more stressful. I’ve had more going on, more things to worry about, more work to do, and more tasks to juggle.
Do you ever wonder why we writers bother? Writing is hard work. It’s a hassle. There are many aspects of it that are long, tedious, and less-than-enjoyable. And yet more people than ever before are uploading their work to publication sites, hoping the world will latch onto their words.
One truth that most people don’t know, and aspiring authors don’t really want to hear, is that writing the book is only half the battle, and the smaller half at that. Promoting, selling, blogging,  and networking are actually harder and take more time. They can result in headaches--often a result of the authors banging our own heads against the wall--and take time away from doing what we really love: writing.
So why do it? Why subject ourselves to the arduous hell of writing, publication, and promotion?
There are so many answers to that question, and they vary from author to author, but in my opinion, they all boil down to the same thing: we don’t have much choice.
There are many professions in which the people who follow them are answering a call they can’t ignore. They’re passionate about their work and, despite the headaches, wouldn’t do anything else. Writing is no different.

“We write by the light of every story we have read.”--Richard Peck

“You have to write the book that wants to be written.”--Madeleine L’Engle
“I write to find out what I didn’t know I knew.”--Robert Frost

“I write because there is a voice inside me that will not be still.”--Sylvia Plath

“A writer can do nothing for men more necessary, satisfying, than just simply to reveal to them the infinite possibility of their own souls.”--Walt Witman

“It is impossible to discourage real writers, they don’t give a damn what you say, they’re going to write.”--Unknown

“I must write. My pen is heavy. Oh lighten the load, for I must write.”--Unknown

“You will recognize your own path when you come upon it, because you will suddenly have all the energy and imagination you will ever need.”--Unknown

I identify with all of these. Once I fully conceive a story, once it’s fully formed and I start to feel like the characters are good friends, I know I’ll have to write it sooner or later. It’ll just keep me up at night until I do. It’s a call, a compulsion, a necessity for sanity. A passion. A way of life. Oh, and by the way, it’s dang fun.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my blog tour and book 2 of my Interchron series. I plan to keep putting fingers to keyboard for a long, long time.

Blog Tour Review: L.L Akers, 'LET ME GO'

Let Me Go by  L.L Akers

Genre: New Adult, Coming-of-age,

Written by: L.L Akers

Available as: Paperback, Kindle version

Published by: SmArt Group Consulting, LLC

Meet Twin sisters Gabriella and Olivia and step into their world of crushing heartbreak, constant fear and anguish.

Reading 'Let Me Go' was almost like an out-of-world experience for me, like I was watching myself read the book, but I was right within those pages, looking out at the person holding the book.

It is a story about a trio of sisters struggling to cope with abuse, while trying to fight for their families survival.

Prior to starting the book, I asked around a little, (as always) to get a feel of other peoples views on the matter and I was shocked to see just how many people either didn't realize or didn't want to realize just how much truth there was to the story. I couldn't believe how often I heard the words

''GROSS EXAGGERATION''

And 20 percent of me agrees, there may have been slight exaggeration in a handful of chapters, for dramatic purposes, but apart from that, I'd say Akers hit the mark dead on.

The issue with domestic and or sexual abuse is, and will always be, that you can never judge the severity of it unless you've experienced it first hand, no matter how much you've read up on it. That's just how it is, you may disagree with that, but that is the truth.

Like reading all about being an Olympic Swimmer doesn't make you any more qualified than the next guy.

The sad reality is- the stories we encounter in Let Me Go are sadly not uncommon and it pains me to read reviews where people speak about it like it's nothing, a mere term that holds no importance whatsoever.
As if one was just discussing the weather or what they've had for dinner.

It's an issue that has weighed heavy on my mind for a couple of years now, but I won't get into it too much otherwise this review will spiral completely out of control!

I've watched so many families being ripped apart by the effects of all different kinds of abuse, (my mother being one of those women affected) that reading and reviewing this book was very important to me on a very personal level and I truly enjoyed getting a copy early on to do just that!

There is so, so much that can be learned from this book, it almost overwhelmed me. Issues like- why does a victim try to keep it all a secret? Surely the first thing you'd do is tell someone?
But I'm afraid it's not quite that simple.

That said, I think it's safe to say that it was very easy for me to connect with each of the 3 sisters.

I truly appreciated just how much research had to have gone into the making of this book, especially as  it was written purely as a work of fiction, with no 'real' truth to it.

On a different note, I found it incredibly refreshing that the characters in the book were portrayed as normal girls, no perky blondes with troubled hearts but otherwise flawless appearance, but girls who share their mistakes and let you into their hearts, which for me, resulted in buckets full of tears and raw emotion.

It's wonderful that once again, an author used their power to give a voice to all those victims out there, because believe you me, if you've been affected by domestic and or sexual abuse, or know someone who is/was,
you're not alone in this.
There will always be someone to support you.

If you need help, get it. No matter how dark the way.

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing'
